Frequently asked questions about alexandrite hair removal

Alexandrite laser or diode laser?

The 755 nm alexandrite has higher absorption in melanin, so it works more efficiently on fine hair and on light phototypes. The 808 nm diode is more versatile on medium phototypes. The Duallase Harmony settles the choice through its second wavelength: for dark skin and thick hair the operator switches to Nd:YAG 1064 nm, within the same session.

Does laser hair removal work on blond hair?

Dark blond and light brown hair contains enough melanin to respond at 755 nm, over more sessions than dark hair. White and grey hair contains no melanin and does not respond to laser hair removal, whatever the equipment. We state this clearly at the assessment, before selling session packages.

Can vascular lesions be treated with this laser?

Yes. The long pulse at 1064 nm is indicated for telangiectasia and fine vessels of the lower limbs, and 755 nm covers superficial pigmented lesions: freckles, age spots, melasma. A single system therefore covers three treatment lines.
