About ZEPU-AI6 Plus
ZEPU-AI6 Plus is a robotic system for active and passive training and evaluation of the upper limb, with a multi-axis articulated arm mounted on a mobile base. Compared with planar trainers, the robot guides the patient's hand along three-dimensional trajectories that reproduce functional gestures: reaching for an object, bringing the hand to the mouth, overhead movements.
The therapist selects passive mode, in which the robot performs the movement, or active mode, in which the patient initiates the movement and the robot assists or resists. Arm weight compensation between 0 and 3 kg allows work with patients with reduced muscle strength. The applied joint range covers -140 to +140 degrees and the session duration is programmed between 1 and 99 minutes.
Key features
- Three-dimensional movement. The multi-axis articulated robotic arm guides the patient's hand along trajectories in space, not only in a plane.
- Active and passive training. In passive mode the robot drives the movement. In active mode the patient initiates the movement and the robot assists or resists.
- Arm weight support. The system compensates between 0 and 3 kg of the limb weight, for patients with reduced strength.
- Joint range ±140°. The angle applied to the patient's joints covers the range from -140 to +140 degrees.
- Programmable sessions. Duration is set between 1 and 99 minutes.
- Mobile base with emergency stop. The unit moves on castors, with a handle, brakes and an emergency stop button.
Clinical indications
The equipment is indicated for:
- Upper limb hemiparesis after stroke
- Brachial plexus and peripheral nerve injuries
- Shoulder and elbow stiffness after immobilisation
- Post-operative shoulder rehabilitation
- Coordination disorders in neurological conditions
Frequently asked questions
What does active-passive training mean?
In the passive phase the robot moves the patient's limb along the set trajectory. As the patient regains strength, they move to active mode, in which the movement starts from the patient and the robot supports or resists it.
How does it differ from ZEPU-AI2?
ZEPU-AI2 is a feedback system for upper limb training on a surface, with a 55 inch screen. ZEPU-AI6 Plus uses an articulated robotic arm and works in three-dimensional space.
